Travel Diary: Paris Part 1

Paris has always been a dream destination for me and I was of course excited when I was able to go there few weeks ago. We stayed in a small boutique hotel 10 minutes walking for Arc de Triomphe.

I’m the kind of traveller who likes to relax and go to places where locals go instead of rushing trying to visit all the touristy places, but my husband likes to visit the landmarks and museum. We found a middle ground and did both.

On our first full day in Paris we visited quite a few places. The first on the list was a walk to Arc de Triomphe at the center of Charles de Gaulle. We took so many stairs to go to the top, I thought it would never end. The 360 view of the city from the top is just breathtaking. One of the first things that I noticed about Paris is the architecture, the city is so beautiful.

After Arc de Triomphe, we took a walk to Champs-Elysees: Paris’ version of NYC’s Fifth Avenue. I learned a few things about Paris. One is that Parisians take long vacation in August, there were a few restaurants on my list to try were closed for the summer. And stores close earlier than the ones in NY, most don’t open on Sundays.

The day ended with a visit to the most famous landmark of all, The Eiffel Tower. It was so crowded and we did not go all the way up because I had enough of the touristy stuff for the day.
